Jan Mostaert(style of): Christ Crowned with Thorns, after 1510 (oil on oak 30.5 x 21 cm)

Isaiah 53:3-5
He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

We ask that you simply meditate on the wonderful and at the same time awful idea that Christ took our sin and suffering upon himself.  Meditate on the fact that it is by his wounds that we are healed.

Pray in your own words, thanking Jesus for all that he did for you.
